Monday, April 14, 2025 - U.S. President, Donald Trump has said that he expects to make a decision on Iran very soon, after both countries held "positive" and "constructive" talks in Oman on Saturday and agreed to reconvene this week.
Trump, who has threatened military action if no deal is
reached to halt Iran's nuclear program, told reporters aboard Air Force One
that he had met with advisers regarding Iran and anticipated a swift decision.
He provided no further details.
"We'll
be making a decision on Iran very quickly," Trump said on Sunday.
According to Axios, two sources familiar with the situation
indicated that a second round of nuclear talks between the United States and
Iran is scheduled for next Saturday in Rome.
The talks in Oman on Saturday marked the first direct
engagement between Iran and the Trump administration, including Trump's first
term from 2017 to 2021. Officials described the discussions as taking place in
a "productive, calm and positive atmosphere."
