Monday, September 7, 2026 - Two cyclists have died after a car collided with a group of three riders in the Kent village of Cobham near Gravesend, prompting three arrests and a major police investigation.
The crash happened on Sole Street at around 7:47am on Sunday, September 6, when a white Ford Focus travelling towards Meopham struck the cyclists near the junction with Round Street. A man in his 60s and a woman in her 50s were pronounced dead at the scene, while the third cyclist was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
Police have arrested two men, aged 20 and 21, on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. A 19-year-old woman has also been detained on suspicion of assisting an offender.
The road was closed for several hours as officers from Kent Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit worked to establish exactly what happened. Investigators are now urgently seeking witnesses, particularly motorists who may have seen the vehicle or cyclists shortly before the collision.
The investigation highlights the importance of quickly securing dashcam and CCTV evidence after a fatal road collision. Kent Police is asking anyone with relevant footage or information to come forward as officers piece together the events leading to the crash.
