MARY LOUISE WELLER dead at 79: Actress famously starred as sorority girl MANDY PEPPERIDGE in Animal House

Sunday, October 4, 2026 - Mary Louise Weller, best known for playing sorority girl Mandy Pepperidge in the 1978 comedy National Lampoon’s Animal House, has died at 79.

Weller died on October 1, one day before her 80th birthday, following a brief illness, according to reports from her longtime partner, Michael Roy Curtis. Her official cause of death has not been released.

Weller became widely known for her role as Mandy, a member of the Pi House sorority in the John Landis-directed comedy. The film featured her alongside John Belushi, Tim Matheson, Kevin Bacon and other emerging stars.

Beyond Animal House, Weller appeared in films including The Bell Jar, Forced Vengeance and Q, while her television credits included Kojak, Starsky & Hutch, Fantasy Island and CHiPs.

Weller eventually stepped away from acting in the early 1980s, with her final screen appearance coming in 1983. She later devoted more time to equestrian pursuits and writing, having trained with the U.S. Equestrian Team as a teenager and continued riding later in life.

Her death has renewed attention on the actress whose memorable Animal House role became the defining part of a relatively brief but recognizable screen career.
