Sunday, September 27, 2026 - Chris Hansen is pushing back hard against Robert Pattinson’s portrayal of him in Primetime, calling the version shown on screen “so detached” from his real experiences.
After finally watching the film, the former To Catch a Predator host said he found the depiction bizarre and said it did not reflect the person or investigative work he remembers.
Hansen was particularly critical of Pattinson’s performance, describing the character as dark, unhinged and “unlikable.” When asked to grade the portrayal, he gave it a D and stressed that viewers should understand the movie is a fictional dramatization rather than a factual recreation of his career.
The film, directed by Lance Oppenheim, explores the darker side of Hansen’s television work and the culture surrounding To Catch a Predator.
The clash is adding another layer of attention to Primetime as audiences decide for themselves how closely the film reflects the real events behind its story.
Hansen has said viewers who are interested in Robert Pattinson or A24 should see the movie and form their own opinions, while he continues to publicly challenge what he considers an inaccurate depiction of his work.
